Melody Bear gets ready for her show

Melody Bear prepares for her show with the Jill Bridger School of Dance.

Tell us about your show, Melody Bear.

"This year I am travelling the world to find the lost Christmas stars. On my journey I meet Russian, Japanese and Spanish dancers. But where are the stars? 'Open sesame' call out the Arabian Princesses and the missing stars spin, sparkle and twinkle out of the cave," says Melody Bear.

Over 100 preschool students, helped by the senior chorus, at the Jill Bridger School of Dance are performing on Sunday 12 December at the new Swavesey College Performance Hall in Cambridge.

Thank you to http://www.ids.co.uk/ for their help with the great costumes and props.

Good luck Melody Bear!

Melody Bear has a visitor

Melody Bear is delighted that Gerrard from 'Childcare is Fun' is visiting the Melody Bear HQ in St Ives, Cambridgeshire this week and joining in dancing classes with Jill Bridger, the author and creator of Melody Bear and the Melody Movement Early Learning dance programme.

Gerrard is a small furry faced bear who is travelling around the UK looking for new friends and exciting adventures. He had a lovely time on Wednesday joining Melody Bear at the Jill Bridger School of Dance and dancing with her Melody Movement children. Gerrard loved the special Christmas routines and laughed at Melody Bear when the dancers covered her in tinsel! He thought the dancers were very graceful as snowflakes and very clever to gallop so high whilst pretending to be reindeers.

After the preschool Melody Movement class, Gerrard enjoyed watching the Melody Bear Foundation Ballet Graduation Ceremony and clapped very hard as each child was awarded a certificate. Jill Bridger told Gerrard that 100 children aged 5 to 6 are graduating from the Melody Bear Foundation ballet classes and moving up to the school's Junior Ballet classes in January. Gerrard even tried the RAD Grade 3 class at the end of the evening. He found that class a bit tricky!

On Thursday Gerrard joined the team in the Melody Bear HQ offices. It was very hectic with the phone ringing all day, but he tried very hard to help everybody. Jill Bridger's Melody Movement syllabus is taught across the UK and overseas and the office is always busy. In the afternoon Gerrard joined Jill and Melody Bear as they dashed off to teach the First Ballet with Melody Bear classes. These were his favourite so far as he loved watching the dancers act out the Melody Bear Ballet song. When they danced the Cinderella dance he joined in with everyone counting up to twelve, very loudly, as the clock chimed at Cinderella's ball.

Today Gerrard is going to help Melody Bear get the costumes ready for her big show this weekend called 'Christmas with Melody Bear'. The preschool Melody Movement children at the Jill Bridger School of Dance are telling the story of Melody Bear's search across the world for the missing Christmas Stars.

Gerrard says he is missing his family at Childcare is Fun, but having a lovely time with Melody Bear. For more information visit: http://www.childcareisfun.co.uk/ Childcare if Fun has lots of information and advice for child-carers, parents and parents-to-be.

IDS has over 30 years of experience in the dance wear industry and we are delighted that we can offer their quality of service and value to our Melody Bear teachers.

Anne, who launched her new Diamond catalogue with the help of dancer, Wayne Sleep OBE, has recently been awarded an MBE for services to business. Jill Bridger, the creator of Melody Bear, says she is "excited about the future of Melody Bear as we now have more than 400 teachers in the UK and overseas who are finding success with our preschool dance syllabus. Our association with IDS means that they can benefit from IDS's streamlined stock, order processing and dispatch facilities and are guaranteed a professional service for their Melody Bear uniform supplies." Jill adds that apart from the ballet uniform, Melody Bear HQ in Cambridgeshire will be continuing to supply all our teacher packages, resources, syllabus, music CDs and providing assistance and advice to all teachers as before. Little Bear Feet - fun for toddlers

Little Bear Feet with Melody Bear classes are the perfect introduction to dance and movement for little girls and boys age 18 months upwards. The joys of dancing and singing are shared by teacher, parent and toddler as together they join Melody Bear in her journey to Nursery Rhyme Land. How will she get there? Will it be by aeroplane, car or flying carpet? Who will she meet? Will it be Humpty Dumpty or Mary Mary Quite Contrary? Delightful interpretations of traditional, familiar nursery rhymes together with new music and songs inspire children's natural zest for dance, movement and self expression. The use of props, mime, songs and rhymes enrich and charm the budding dancers as they take their first steps into the magical world of Melody Bear.

Who is Melody Bear? She is the loveable teddy at the heart of the Melody Movement Early Learning program. Her stories and themes instill children with a love of dance, making it a positive element of their early lives which stays with them whilst learning from a young age how music, movement, dance and the imagination can be combined to tell a story and convey emotions

Little Bear Feet classes are the first step in the Melody Movement dance program. In addition to movement skills, children are introduced to other fundamental curriculum learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills. The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is enjoyable and fun. Melody Movement provides every child with the opportunity to discover and fulfill their own potential whilst nurturing creative development. The non-competitive award schemes motivate, delight and inspire the young dancers as they advance from Little Bear Feet classes to the Junior Ballet levels.
